Cyber Security

Image Cyber Security

Cyber Security Area comprehends projects regarding information and network security. Deployment of new generation networks, including heterogeneous access networks such as 5G and IoT will combine with AI and blockchain technologies to increase the network connected number of services and infrastructures.

Issues tied to information and services protection in terms of privacy, availability and integrity require growing attention to cybersecurity in order to effectively contrast via network threats.

Information violation can regard services and data operated by compagnies, public administrations, health, critical infrastructures and defense networks. These violations can harm citizens too, which are already exposed to a number of informatic threats when directly dealing with their own data. Projects in this Area concern contrast to unlawful acts by hackers, fraudsters or terrorists on one end, privacy protection from commercial firms gathering users’ personal information for trade on the other. It is also necessary to secure fundamental rights to citizens in information society, including data portability, right to be forgotten, digital identity and responsibility principle for service providers.

In the next future cybersecurity will play a strategic role across many economic sectors. Fondazione Ugo Bordoni disposes of proper knowledge to that end, particularly developing he following skills:

  1. ICT security certification, particularly providing the Economic Development Ministry with expertise to implement the National plan for cybernetic protection and information security”;

  2. Smart grid security;

  3. Cybersecurity in highly strategic issues such as 5G, AI, IoT, and Blockchain.

Projects

Ministry of Economic Development

Acquisition by the ICT security certification scheme coordinated by OCSI of the additional skills needed to perform Common Criteria security certifications at level EAL5 (the current maximum level is normally EAL4).

ISCOM

The project supports OCSI in providing guidelines to LVS (ITSEFs), based on the analysis of main issues in real certification processes and in actively participating to technical activities of the Working groups managed by European and international Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs).

Ministry of Economic Development

The project aims at supporting the Italian Ministry of Economic Development to deal with refarming of the 700MHz band for allocation to 5G technology and with a roadmap for deployment of 5G networks, services and applications, in Italy, until 2022.
