Claudia Carciofi

She received the degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Bologna in 1990. After one year of research activities on ATM, in 1992 she joined Fondazione Ugo Bordoni where she was involved in the second phase of the RACE program, namely within the ATDMA and MONET projects. From 1995 to 1997 she attended the Ph.D. program in telecommunications at the University of Bologna. Since 1997 she joined again Fondazioni Ugo Bordoni where she is mainly working on propagation algorithms for coverage prediction and exposure evaluation of current and next generation radio systems.

In the latest years (2002÷2006) she has been involved in the development of the national monitoring network for radio frequency electromagnetic field on behalf of the Ministry of Communications and in cooperation with the regional environmental protection agencies of all Italy.

Her research activities also comprises the study and implementation of terrestrial or maritime vehicle positioning systems based on differential GPS corrections.

Her current research activities mainly focus on flexible spectrum management  strategies such as cognitive radios systems and the coexistence of different systems in the same band. She is also involved in the activity to support the Italian Minister of Economic Development for the transition process from analog to digital television systems. Other  interests  regard the so called "digital divide" problem and the related development of new broadband wireless solutions.
