Francesco Matera

 

Francesco Matera was born in Rome, Italy, on May 1, 1961.
He received the Laurea degree in Electronics Engineering from the University “La Sapienza” in Rome, Italy, in 1985.
In 1986, he was granted a fellowship at Fondazione Ugo Bordoni on optical fibers.
Between 1986 and 1987 he was Second Lieutenant in the Italian “Corpo Tecnico dell’Esercito”.
Since 1988, he has been Researcher at Fondazione Ugo Bordoni where he worked on nonlinear effects on optical fibres, on optical systems and optical networks.
He was member of the European COST266 and was the scientific coordinator of European IST ATLAS project.
His main works are in the field of the optical transmission systems and optical networks.
He is Author of about 100 publications and 100 Conference papers and of a book: “Nonlinear Optical Communication Networks” Wiley 1996.
He has been the Chairman of the International Conference "Networks 2012", October 15-18, 2012.
