Claudio Carpineto

Claudio Carpineto is the head of the Information Mining area at Fondazione Ugo Bordoni, where he has worked since 1986. He earned his 'laurea' degree (summa cum laude) in electronic engineering at the University of Rome 'La Sapienza' in 1984. He was Visiting Associate at the Artificial Intelligence Center of George Mason University, Virginia, and Honorary Visiting Research Fellow at the Computing Science Department of the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. He has published about 70 papers in information retrieval, artificial intelligence, and data mining. He has co-authored the book Concept Data Analysis: Theory and Applications, John Wiley & Sons, 2004. He has been General and Program Chair of the 29th European Conference on Information Retrieval (ECIR 2007). He has co-authored CREDO (http://credo.fub.it), a web clustering engine for desktop and mobile devices. His current research interests include personalized and contextual information retrieval, rule mining, and web knowledge extraction.
